As all of us who love watching TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress know, finding your bridal gown is perhaps the most important part of your wedding preparations (other than the love you share with your intended). As a bride, you’ve thumbed through numerous bridal magazines, looked at hundreds of pictures online, and have combed through the racks at various bridal boutiques in order to find THE gown. You put it on, experiences tingles, butterflies, MAGIC! It’s YOUR dress!
But don’t stop there! Accessorizing your wedding day look is important for helping you to look and feel your very best on your special day. Though inner and outer beauty exists in all of us and it is important that we remember that, a little added sparkle never hurts!
You don’t even need to go into debt to find the items you need to complete your ensemble. As a bride-to-be, I feel more satisfaction with finding gorgeous wedding day accessories at a great price than I do with breaking the bank on that one $400 rhinestone sash that I’ve had my eye on since I began trying on bridal gowns months ago! Why add the stress of overspending to the wedding planning process? Get creative and do some guilt-free bargain shopping!
There are numerous places where a bride-to-be can find stylish, yet affordable wedding items. Whether you look in your local thrift and antique stores, shop online, or become a DIY diva (like myself), there are countless places to find pretty and sparkly, yet inexpensive treasures.
When looking online, try websites such as Recycled Bride, Bravo Bride, or Wedding Bee to find new and used wedding items for sale. My all-time favorite website for finding hand-made items is Etsy. Etsy even has a new section that features different categories of items for weddings; everything from bouquets to veils. My new Etsy shop, Pretty and Sparkly Things, is just one example of the unique, hand-made items that can be found there.
This particular post features some of my favorite things and includes Etsy shops where I have found items for my own upcoming wedding. The photo at the top is one of the many stylish items that can be found on Etsy for a great price. Made by Powder Blue Bijoux, this petite birdcage veil with Swarovski rhinestones sells for $39.00! This is the same Etsy shop where I found the veil I will be wearing for my wedding reception. If you’re not a veil kind of girl, then a fascinator might be the way to go. The next photo features the Chloe feather and rhinestone fascinator also sold by Powder Blue Bijoux on Etsy for $88.39. When it comes to fascinators, there are many different designs and shapes to match any style.
The next photo features a pair of vintage baby blue crystal earrings sold by bridalwear on Etsy for $39.00. Earrings such as these could serve as a bride’s “something old” AND “something blue”! Or, for the bride who loves pearls but doesn’t want to sacrifice having a bit of sparkle, the next photo shows how she can have both. This three strand pearl necklace with cubic zirconia flower embellishment by PearlsStory is a great price at $27.00, with free shipping.
Pinterest is another great place to find inspiration for your wedding planning. It is also a great way to keep your ideas for your wedding organized. You can create your own pin boards and either repin items that you see on Pinterest that you like, or you can even upload your own photos as pins. Pinterest requires an invitation to join, so if you’re interested, let me know and I will send you an invitation!
Accessorizing your wedding day look can be a lot of fun, but it takes some time to find the right items that will fit the image of how you want to look on your wedding day. At the end of the day, the best accessory you can wear is a smile that displays the beauty that you hold within yourself. Happy planning!
